Spring 2021 Live Commencement Ceremonies

The university is currently planning live commencement ceremonies from May 6-8.  Spring degree candidates need to apply to graduate by March 1.

After applying for graduation, students will receive an email with instructions to register the commencement attendance on the Marching Order website by April 5.

Students who graduated in 2020 are invited to attend spring 2021 commencement and should contact the Office of the Registrar, registra@uark.edu, for registration instructions.

As with most everything else this year, spring 2021 commencement ceremonies will look different as required to keep everyone as safe as possible.  Foremost, attendance by students and guests will be very limited, tickets will be required for both students and guests, the ceremonies themselves will be condensed, and all protocols set forth by the Arkansas Department of Health and the university will be followed.  While each college ceremony may be slightly different, the following items provide important information for all students and guests.

Any person (graduates/guests included) who tests positive for COVID should NOT ATTEND.

Any person (graduates/guests included) experiencing symptoms or any person identified as a close contact of a COVID positive person, should NOT ATTEND.  Close contact is defined as being within 6 ft of a COVID positive individual for a cumulative total of 15 minutes or more over a 24 hr period.

  • All guests, students and staff will be required to social distance.  Face coverings are required for all persons present, except for children under ten (10) years of age. Face coverings are strongly encouraged for children between the ages of two (2) and nine (9). Seating is limited for students and guests and tickets will be required.
    • Students will be limited to 6 general admission tickets for family and guests.
    • Children under two will be allowed without a ticket as long as they won't be using a seat.
    • Guest seats will be in sections of six that are a separated by the distance required to accommodate social distancing. Only members of the same family or group are to sit in each separated section of seats. A section of six seats will not be divided among different groups of families or guests.
    • Tickets will be available to print/email from the Marching Order website after April 16 to students who register their attendance by the April 5 deadline. Each student will automatically receive 6 guest tickets. Students may request an additional set of 6 guest tickets by emailing registra@uark.edu.  These additional sets of tickets will be distributed as available.
    • In the event that unused seats are available, spectators who receive said tickets shall be restricted to the requesting student's family. Seating of multiple families in the same seating group will not be permitted.
  • Students and guests are to print the tickets and bring them to the ceremony.
  • Family and guests can begin leaving the arena once their graduate is recognized.
  • Only Graduate students are recognized at the University ceremony.
  • Undergraduate and law students are recognized at their respective college ceremony.
  • Students in colleges with more than one ceremony will be assigned their ceremony time by mid-April.
  • Each ceremony will last about one hour - the length for an individual student will depend on the order of when they cross the stage.
  • At the conclusion of the ceremony, students and families are encouraged to disperse from the arena area as quickly as possible to avoid crowding.
  • No concession stands will be open during the ceremonies. Guests will be allowed to bring water into the arena.
  • Please see below for more information on regalia, parking and photos.
