Resident Reclassification for Fee Purposes

Because the University of Arkansas Board of Trustees Policy governing reclassification states the burden of proof is on the person seeking to be reclassified, all of the following must be submitted and verified by the student for eligibility:

  1. Has established financial independence and has left the parental home.
  2. Has established in this state a home of permanent nature as manifested by Good Faith Acts.
  3. Has physically resided in Arkansas for at least six consecutive months prior to the beginning of the term for which fees are to be paid.
  4. Has an expectation of remaining in the state beyond graduation.

We recommend that you carefully read the actual Board policy attached to this application. What is critically important to the Board is not the good faith acts, the length of residence, the age of the student, or the promise of employment in Arkansas after graduation. These are all a part of the effort to determine, or measure, the extent to which one has severed out-of-state ties and established a new home in Arkansas.

Applications and appropriate documentation must be received by the Office of the Registrar no later than the fifth class day (second class day of a summer session) of the term for which in-state fee assessment is requested. Applications received after the deadline will be considered for the next term.
